Digital Image Production; Moodboard presentation.
Today I presented my mood board inspired by the word 'Macabre', I found that my moulding of my mood board was quite and enjoyable to create and I found some very inspiring and creative images from the website Pinterest.com. Since creating my mind map of ideas the week before, I had certain ideas in mind already so by the time I began to look for these images to describe my ideas, I knew what parts of the word I wanted to explore and develop. I found using the website 'Pinterest' quite helpful as a majority of the images I used from my board were from Pinterest, although I found some images on the site were repetitive and low quality.
When designing my mood board I decided to create mine online so that I could present it in pdf form, as I thought this would be more professional. I created a very simple layout for my board and presented altogether six images in a mixture of colour and black and white images. There was no particular reasoning to my number of images or use of different colours. I feel that in response to creating my first board, the number of images and colours is something I would like to increase and develop in my next board to create more of a complimentary theme to my boards aesthetic.
I wanted my mood board to portray a sinister, disturbing and glamorous theme all as one, I am unaware if this is what my group felt when they observed my presentation but I am happy with my outcome. I feel that it represents the ideas I had created in response to my first amount of research on 'Macabre' and now I know how I want to push these ideas further. My reasoning for creating this theme was because I wanted to create some make-up looks that appear sinister and sexy. When talking throughout my presentation I felt confident and happy with my performance. I had created some notes beforehand to guide me whilst speaking, something I felt nervous about was making sure what I was saying not only made sense but also presented the ideas I had thought of. When pitching my ideas to my group I made sure to discuss all research made and next steps I want to take in order to further my ideas and test them.
I feel that my Mood board could have been expanded further in regards of size and the amount of images I present, but this can be something I improve on in the future. I would also include more images and evidence of research into textures and materials that have inspired me alongside colour and models. Something I also want to improve on is being able to confidently and happily discuss my main ideas comfortably.
Whilst my group members and myself observed our presentations and mood boards, Sharon encouraged us to give our peers feedback in paris. Me and my partner Beccy did this for our group member Ella, we were instructed to fill out a sheet with prepared questions where we had to a analyse, interpret, evaluate .etc. our peers mood board. I think this was helpful activity to practice as it allowed us to receive feedback and also reflect on our work in order to improve. I feel that I can't do much to change my board in response to my feedback as I it was mainly positive but I know what areas I plan to work on for my future mood board.
The images below are of the feedback sheet I received from my peers in response to my presentation.
