Face Chart Ideas x Macabre.

In response to the recent research I have collected, expanding my ideas for the word 'Macabre' I have decided to create some face charts also so that I can visualise properly some of the ideas I have had in mind. I feel that most of the face charts I have created are all very different but share a dark, sinister theme which Is something I wanted. I plan to create more face charts, as well as practice some of my favourite looks, I have created below on a model.

Macabre Chic.
This make-up chart I created is heavily inspired by the texture of dirt (dark, powdery textures). My focus of dirt being the main texture in this look is because whilst I was using Pinterest, a lot of photography images came up, particularly 'Vintage Macabre'. I fell in love with these images as they really created a mood to the already quite creepy image. Vintage Macabre photography catches my attention in many ways but the featuring of nature and dirt around a subject in an image in particular is what makes an image more scary for me. I think this because the photographs begin to tell a story and you wonder why this person is in this lonely forest, surrounded by dirt and insects, Do they live there?, Are they lost?. Vintage Macabre photography allows you to imagine as the style of photography creates a dark and creepy theme. In terms of the make-up I
would create a perfect base with subtle contouring, black matt lips and black and burgundy smokey eyes extended out to the sides of the face. I want the shadow of the smokey eye to be extended so that it appears as if it is smoked/smeared dirt, when I imagine my make-up look I see a disturbing murderer princess, hid away in the forest and awaiting to take on her next victim.

Macabre meets Avant Garde.
The above face chart is one of my favourite looks I have created so far. I like this design in particular as It reminds me a lot of the make-up style 'Avant Garde' but a more muted and sinister version. When creating this face chart I did not plan anything but just experimented, making sure that I at least included and played with colour. My reasoning for using colour is because I feel this is something I would like to experiment more with as a make-up artist and creative thinker, colour is a great form of symbolism and expression and I want to become more confident in playing with different colours to portray my word. When creating the eye make-up on this chart I began by using a burgundy shade as my base colour, I then began to add some black to the look to smoke out. Gradually, I began adding elements of other colours; blue, gold, purple, reds. I loved the outcome I created although, I wasn't too keen on the merging of all the colours as it began to look a little too dark meaning the other colours don't pop as much. In order to improve on this look I think I will use less black and burgundy to break up the colours more and instead gradually adding black to the eyes.

Smokey eye x Bruises.
When designing this make-up chart I wanted the focus of the look to be on the eyes and appear as if their bruises on the eye lids. I used colours such as blue, red, burgundy and black to portray the same colours you would see in a really extreme bruise. My reasoning for wanting to create a bruise effect on the eye is because It allows me again to tell a story in regards of my word Macabre, which is this psychotic character who wears their fears, sins and almost enjoys the pain inflicted on them. I would keep the skin base very clean, simple and full coverage and the lips would be a deep rich burgundy colour.

Complimentary toned Macabre.
This make-up look is inspired by ombre effects and using various shades of the same colours to create a full make-up look that features the dark tones I want to portray Macabre. Burgundy and brown tones will contour the cheek area, eyes and brows perfect matt burgundy lips. This is one of my most artistic face charts that shares the same colours used to define and decorate the whole of the face.
